MESA Centennial Panel ColloquiumFellow MESAns, Next week, MESA will be hosting a colloquium that takes a different format than recent ones. The description is below: This year marks the centennial of the College of Education here at the University of Georgia. During this time, the mathematics education department has grown from its inception to one of the largest and most influential in the country. In this panel discussion, senior and Emeritus faculty will offer some insight into the history of the department as well as math education in the United States. The panel will be discussing topics such as how the field of mathematics education has changed over the years, open research questions, the department's reaction to different movements (eg. New Math), and changes in preservice education. This is bound to be an interesting conversation for anyone who has a curiosity for the historical development of mathematics education from the perspective of the faculty here at UGA. MESA hopes that all of you can come and spend an afternoon with us! Title: Reflections on the History of Mathematics Education
Panel Members: Ed Davis, Tom Cooney, Jeremy Kilpatrick, Les Steffe
