Collection

The collection's primary focus is on materials for the College of Education's undergraduate programs, particularly those related to teacher training and preparation. Materials support Educational Field Experiences in the College of Education, the methods and practicum courses in the education curriculum, and children's and young adult's literature courses. Our books and periodicals can be located in the GIL online catalog.

Contents:

Fiction and nonfiction books appropriate for the preschool child through young adult are located in this collection. All are fully cataloged.

For example, the collection includes children's literature indexes and bibliographies, encyclopedias, directories, and review sources of audiovisual media, etc.

Textbooks

Current Periodicals

The CML holds over 66 periodical subscriptions. A great number of these titles are written for children and cover a broad area of subjects. Others are professional in scope, featuring reviews of juvenile literature and creative teaching methods. Most journals are retained for five years; a few are bound and shelved at the Main Library.

Tests

The test collection consists of Tests in Microfiche, which are unpublished tests often cited in professional literature, and the standardized test kits used by the Educational Psychology Department faculty and students. Arrangements can be made for copying the microfiche tests at the Main Library's Copy Center. Test kits may be checked out for three days by pre-approved users.

Vertical File

Catalogs, information brochures and samples of free materials are collected for the Vertical File.
