Clinic Fees

The UGA Speech and Hearing Clinic is a fee-for-service, self-supporting clinic. With the fees collected, the Clinic purchases needed supplies and pays for all or portions of clinical faculty and staff salaries. Clients should be aware of the following information regarding our fees:

  • As we are an educational training facility, speech-language pathology fees tend to be lower in our Clinic than in the private sector.
  • We offer a sliding fee scale for therapy services to those who apply and qualify based on financial need.
  • To be considered for a fee adjustment, an application must be submitted to our clinic office each semester. A copy of your most recent income tax statement, W-2 form, or current paycheck stub is required to verify income.
  • Adjusted fees will be based on total gross annual income, adjusted for the number of dependents in the family. Other financial needs may also be taken into consideration.
  • Clients who are unable to pay the adjusted fee amount should discuss their needs with the Clinic Office Manager or Clinic Director. Various payment plans may be arranged with the Clinic. No individual will be denied therapy services because of inability to pay.
  • We accept payment by cash, check, or credit cards.
  • All clients are requested to update their registration information and submit a copy of their insurance card, if applicable, at the beginning of each semester or when there is a change in insurance coverage.
  • A physician prescription may be required, if needed for reimbursement or the type of service you will receive.
  • The sliding fee scale may not be combined with insurance coverage or other discounts. Regular fees are required for insurance billing.
  • Some clinic fees are not eligible for an adjustment or may require a minimum payment.
  • Clients may also apply for scholarship funding for assistance with fees, when funding is available through our foundation accounts.
  • Please inquire in our clinic office for a sliding fee scale or scholarship application, if needed.
  • A waiver in fees associated with services received may result in the client receiving a 1099 tax form.
  • The fee a client pays will not affect the quality or quantity of services rendered.

 Insurance or Third-Party Payer Coverage

  • We are a Medicaid (Amerigroup CMO only) and Medicare provider for audiology services. We are unable to bill Medicaid for speech-language pathology services.
  • Our audiologists are network providers for Georgia Blue Cross Blue Shield. Clients should check with their insurance company regarding benefits for other insurance plans or services.
  • A co-payment will be collected, if required by your insurance company.

Please contact the Clinic Office for more information on audiology or speech-language pathology fees at 706.542-4598.
