Congratulations DCOD Member Bob Hill, recipient of a 2008 Freedom Award.
Waters, accompanied by Jonathan Kilgore on saxophone, sings Friday morning at the Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Breakfast in the Magnolia Room in the University of Georgia's Center for Continuing Education Conference Center. Honored at the breakfast were Patricia Clifton for work with the Young Scholars Program at the University of Georgia, Derrick Floyd for service with the Boys & Girls Club, UGA professor Robert Hill for his leadership example and Esther Sherman of UGA's physical plant for volunteer efforts. Georgia Supreme Court Justice Robert Benham delivered the keynote address.

Among the roles of the Dean’s Council on Diversity are:
- Advisory
- to College Committees & functions (e.g. Faculty Senate, Curriculum, Recruitment & Retention)
- linkage to the Office of Institutional Diversity
- New Directions: development of the proposal for the Center for the Study of Culture, Equity and Diversity and identification of external resources to support the proposal
- Programs
- Professional development for faculty, staff and students
- Conferences and workshops
