New Report Cites Elementary Ed Program as ‘Exemplary’

A study by the National Council on Teacher Quality cites UGA’s elementary education program alone as “exemplary” in preparing future educators to teach mathematics. The report rated 77 education schools in 49 states by studying entrance and exit requirements, course syllabi, textbooks, tests, and state licensing tests. Arthur M. (Andy) Horne, who has served as interim dean of the University of Georgia College of Education since Jan. 1, has been named permanent dean of the college, effective July 1. EduDawg Now in the House!

The COE's Centennial mascot, "EduDawg," who made his debut at the Centennial Luncheon on June 13, now stands nobly protecting the lobby of the Carlton Street entrance of Aderhold Hall near the Dean's Office (G-3). Everyone is invited to visit and take photos with him, but please do not touch. His robe is a bit fragile. EduDawg will eventually be rotated to COE locations at Rivers Crossing and the Ramsey Center. A 4½-inch resin EduDawg replica for home or office can now be ordered. Visit the coeSHOP on the COE Centennial website for more details.
