On October 7, the U.S. Government released Physical Activity Guidelines for America. Three faculty from the Department of Kinesiology at UGA helped in development of the Guidelines. Rod Dishman was a member of the Advisory Committee, and Patrick O'Connor and Phillip Tomporowski were consultants to the Committee, which reviewed the scientific literature and developed specific recommendations that served as the basis for the Guidelines.

The University of Georgia Athletic Training Education Program in association with the National Taiwan Sport University (NTSU) is offering a study abroad experience specifically designed for athletic training students. More information.

Phil Tomporowski in collaboration if Catherine Davis at the Georgia Prevention Institute, Medical College of Georgia, and Jennifer McDowell and Patricia Miller in the UGA Psychology Department, have been awarded a 5-year 3.6 million dollar NIH grant for a project titled, Exercise & Overweight Children’s Cognition.
