Adult Education

Specialist of Education Degree (Ed.S.)

Purpose

The Ed.S. program is designed to prepare students for careers as practitioners in positions and organizations related to the education of adults. All phases of the program encourage and support the acquisition of advanced knowledge and skills for effective practice in adult education. The specialist degree provides a professional education sequence for adult education practitioners to improve their abilities to work with adult students in a variety of areas such as adult basic education, technical and vocational programs and other adult education areas. This program does not lead to certification in K-12 systems.
For an Ed.S. program leading to certification, please go to:

Admission Requirements

The faculty considers four factors in deciding whether to recommend an applicant for admission:

  1. Undergraduate Grade Point Average.
  2. Graduate Grade Point Average.
  3. Graduate Record Examination Score.
  4. Demonstration of interest in an applied career through an interview with the Graduate Coordinator.

Residency Requirements
