Career Counseling
Education Career Consultant
- Mr. Ken Hansing has been the career service representative for
the College of Education for 22 years.
- Mr. Hansing is available in Room 122 of Aderhold Hall on Tuesdays
from 1-3 p.m.
- Mr. Hansing is available on other days, Monday-Friday - 6:45
a.m. to 4 p.m. in room 247A of Clark Howell Hall. To schedule an appointment, call 542-3375.
- Responsibilities of the Placement Representative
- Helps develop a portfolio/resume/placement file.
- Offers taped mock interview with employers for your viewing.
- Sample contracts contained in your placement packet given
to you when you see Mr. Hansing.
- Resumes and letter writing seminars are given in Clark Howell
Hall. Check for availability.
- Personal appointments are available with the placement representative.
Education Fairs
- Job fair announcements are posted on the bulletin boards outside
Room 122 of Aderhold Hall.
- A Teacher / Administration Recruitment Day is held on campus during the Spring
Semester.
Crowded Teaching Fields
- Health and Physical Education, Social Studies, Early Childhood
Education, Art, and Middle School are teaching fields presently
having few vacancies in Georgia.
Critical Area Teaching Fields
- Special Education, English as a Second Language, Foreign Language
Education, Mathematics Education, and Science Education
are all areas presently having the greatest need for additional
teachers in Georgia.
Teacher Salaries
- For the 2002-2003 school year, the base salary in Georgia is
$29,254.
- This amount does not include any local supplement pay or pay
for such extra-curricular activities as coaching, yearbook advisor,
clubs, etc.
Applying for Teaching Jobs
- December graduates should begin their job search no later than
October of that same year.
- May graduates should begin their job search in January or February.
